This summer saw us at two haiku conferences, leading an adult poetry workshop in Madison, NJ, and Penny giving a reading at her alma mater, Douglass College of Rutgers, the State University of NJ. This two-week workshop for beginning and experienced poets focuses on writing and sharing. Sharpen existing poems and write new work in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere. Gentle affirmation and careful, specific suggestions for improvement lead to success for students. At the end of the course, participants will have an opportunity to read their poems for family and friends at an informal poetry café.

Haiku Canada Conference 2007
Penny and Bill will be attending this annual conference organized by Haiku Canada for the first time in nearly two decades. As well as participating in conference events, we will be reading in the Members Reading, and selling our books in the conference book room.

Haiku North America Presents
Lectures and Workshops by
Penny Harter and William J. Higginson
Penny will lead "Stories from Haiku—Haiku from Stories," helping participants discover the stories implied or known behind classic haiku, and invite participants to write haiku based on passages from published articles and stories.
Bill will join nature photographer Michael Lustbader in a slide talk based on their collaboration in Butterfly Dreams: The Seasons through Haiku. The talk will include Michael's images from the e-book along with Bill's accompanying translations of Japanese haiku.
Bill and Penny will also conduct "The Gibbous Moon Renku Session," a workshop in writing Japanese-style collaborative poems.
